I applied to SMG at BU and if I am accepted there is a high chance I will enroll. However, recently I’ve come across articles talking about how difficult BU is in terms of getting a good GPA. My goals and aspirations after undergraduate business studies include getting an MBA from one of the top grad schools (Dartmouth Tuck, UT-Austin McCombs, UVA Darden, Vanderbilt Owen, etc.). I know all these schools are very hard to get into by nature and GPA is just one of the many factors they look at (while still very important). However, I’ve heard the average GPA at BU is right around a 3.0, although people have said SMG has a different system from the rest of the colleges at BU and the grades are slightly higher. Does anyone have any insight on this?
Make no mistake, I plan to work very hard in college. I will study as much as I should, be at TA study sessions, go to my professors’ office hours, and go above and beyond to strive for the grades I want. But, will the fruits of my labor pay off at another school better than they would at BU with the GPA curving? I’m just talking about the School of Management. I also plan to walk-on to the track & field team at BU, so I will be a student-athlete.
I appreciate any input anyone may have.
