School profile sent to colleges

Hi. Because of the somewhat unorthodox way my public high school sends information to colleges, I am concerned about the way colleges will evaluate my application as well as those of others from my school. From what I can tell (and have heard), the school prepares a packet with the usual things included: transcript (GPA, weighted GPA, etc.), teacher recs, etc., to send to colleges with my application. However, what they don't include is class rank, and any sort of counselor evaluation/recommendation. Instead of the counselor evaluation, the school sends 2 teacher assessments, which differ from teacher recommendations in that they are supposed to be more of an evaluation of the student's performance in that class based on grades, work ethic than an evaluation of that person and his/her potential as a whole.

What worries me is that some of the stuff on the counselor recommendation seem fairly essential for a college to evaluate my application in relation to others. For example, the spot on the Common Ap. counselor rec. where the counselor is supposed to indicate how challenging the student's courseload is as a whole compared to other students in the school.

How would a college know, for example, that you can't take AP's until junior year at my school, and only about the top 10 students from a class of 500 take 5 or more AP's total throughout high school, without knowing class rank or having a counselor evaluate relative courseload? Or am I just reading too deep into this and admissions officers have a ton of experience reading app's from my school (a top public HS in my state) and therefore know how to evaluate students from my school as compared to others?

Thanks alot.

Your last sentence is a good summary of reality.

I wouldn’t say “tons of experience” but “enough experience”. They have seen most variations, and certainly the one at your school.
