I, for one, find the entire college application process rather confusing. Maybe that's because I'm an international student, and as such, I have a question I was hoping someone could answer. On most college's web sites it is stated that a "school report" or "counselor recommendation" is required and that this can be submitted via the common app. What exactly is the "school report" and the "counselor recommendation"?(is my school counselor going to have to write a letter or recommendation or is this something else?)
Thank you.

The school report includes the counselor recommendation, plus information about your school in general. So basically, the two things you are describing are all in one document.

If you create a profile on the Common Application and add a school to your list, it will allow you to generate a .pdf file of the school report so you can see what goes on it.

It looks very similar to this - http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/documents/UG_Admissions_SecondarySchoolReport.pdf
