School Revoking Admission Decision

I am applying to a couple of boarding schools. I saw that both wanted end of year transcript(for current year, if you get accepted). I am just wondering how does that make a difference in their pick. I know that you have to do good in high school to get into a good college, but why do the boarding schools want them? Can a boarding school take back their admission?

Most certainly a boarding school can rescind admission - if your grades drop significantly from what they were when they accepted you, then they can/will revoke your acceptance. Note that the drop has to be significant - we are not talking from A to B. Your acceptance letter will likely be conditional upon your final transcript.

Also, they need all your transcript if you are going to go there so when you apply for college and the colleges ask for transcript they can send everything. They have a permanent record for you.

lets just hope you didnt write your essay the same way you wrote your post. Correct, you need to do “well” throughout the year, even after you have been accepted. They wont rescind your admission if one or two of your grades went down to a “c” level, but it may affect your placement in an honors class.

iamme16- best of luck to you on your essays, interviews and all aspects of the admissions process…I’m sure you will do just fine.

Regarding the year-end transcripts, be aware that in addition to final grades, some permanent records may contain information regarding behavioral issues, if any. Of course, this depends on how the school keeps records, but it would be a shame if the BS gets wind of any “out of character” behavior, if an applicant decides to “go crazy” at year end.
