<p>Yes. Boarding schools request a final transcript and can rescind acceptances from students whose work degrades significantly enough to be of concern.</p>
<p>Yes. Some people (not most, but some I know!) slack off in terms of grades once they are “in”. If a school sees this, they could definitely retract their offer. After all, what school would want a student that had proved they can perform better, but chooses not to?</p>

<p>Your grades would have to drop pretty significantly in more than one subject for that to even be on the table, I think.</p>
<p>Grades are also sometimes used for placement (I’m not sure if this is the case at other prep schools); for instance, if you really struggle in history compared to your other subjects, they might put you in regular instead of honors, etc.</p>
