Hello, I was just looking for some decent schools that have a good political science and or economics program. Yet the biggest thing is the price of the schools. It has to be less than $15k for tuition. Price is a big issue because I have a brother and sister who are also in college so it is definitely an issue. I am looking on the east coast particularly for large schools. I am from VA, I will have completed 5 Ap's throughout high school, my overall gpa is about 2.8. My SAT scores is about 1700. My major concern is looking for schools with the stats that I currently have. I had some difficulty Freshman and Sophomore years with family issues which I intend on including in my essay if need be. I hope to hear from a lot of people on this board. Just give me a list of colleges and I will look at them and research them without any problems. If they are not necessarily the best Political Science school yet a good school for say business then go ahead and include that as well. Just keep in mind my gpa and SAT scores. Thanks a lot.

To be honest, I would suggest you look at in-state(VA) schools. First find out from a good source what your EFC would be. Depending on that, you can pick schools that may give you a lot of financial aid. If your EFC shows that you need a lot of financial help, then you should apply to a few private schools. Just put in VA public colleges in google and you should get a lot of info.

I have looked at in state schools and am considering them as well. I would just like to know what other options I may have out of state. I have done a lot of research in state as well as some out of state. I would appreciate just a list of a couple of schools out of state. Thanks.

Look at Flagler in Florida. Even without aid, it is in your price range, and you may get aid. Along with many other small schools, they need more males. Look at Cabrini College. If you get aid, it may work. Also, North Carolina has pretty low tuitions for out of state people. Maybe you should look at all of their schools, then apply to a couple at which you would be a solid to very solid candidate.

suny and cuny schools are pretty cheap out of state i think.

bosox097, you are right. Ironically (for a high-tax, high-expense state), SUNY schools are pretty cheap for out-of-state: about $11K tuition. SUNY Albany, SUNY Buffalo, and all of the State Colleges (except for Geneseo) would also be in reach with the OP's kind of stats, I would think. I don't really know which of these schools are paticularly good in economics, though. I would certainly imagine that the two university centers, Albany and Buffalo (UB), will have at least decent deppartments. Albany I believe is reputed to have good undergraduate business programs. If the OP would like to pursue this lead with SUNY schools, go to the main SUNY web site. There you will find an on-line fact book covering all the campuses, plus links to their individual web sites.

You might check out Towson University in Maryland and Rowan University in New Jersey. Also the College of Charleston (very confusing website).
