School Spirit

Can we talk about school spirit at Emory? Is there any? I understand there is quite a sense of pride but is there any RAH RAH?

YES! There is definitely school spirit!! We have all kinds of sporting events, like basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, etc. and tons of students attend and really enjoy these events! I also really love Songfest, which is a competition among all the freshmen residence halls where everyone learns songs and dances that support their dorm! It’s definitely full of school spirit! And there are events that are like that throughout the year that foster school spirit. Everyone is definitely proud of Emory, but there’s also the “RAH RAH” too! haha :)

I see Emory apparel everywhere.

I’m not a big sports person, but when I went last year to the men’s basketball game against archival Wash U, the bleachers were full, and a couple of (frat?) guys were painted in Blue and Gold and screaming for their Eagles. The “RA RA” blew me away.

I’m a sophomore, but there’s still a little sense of competition between where we roomed freshmen year, probably left over from Songfest. Dobbs just won because they got the sympathy vote. GO TURMAN!

All the college guidebooks try to associate our lack of football team with a lack of school spirit. But I encourage all students to visit and decide for themselves. In my experience, Emory is full of school spirit, even if the “RA RA” isn’t centered around a football team.
