DD’s BS is offering a college tour to the Northeast over Spring Break visiting about 10 schools.
Has anyone here done a similar trip led by a tour group & BS counselors?
We’ve only visited schools on our own, so just wondering if the experience is any different with a group of your classmates.
I’m curious about this as well, but I worry that the timing is a little off. If you wait until Spring of Junior year to see a broad overview of schools, which this tour does, I think that you’re starting a little late. I would get my “overview” done sooner and use those two weeks to only see more targeted schools. I have a few friends who came to NYC last year over Presidents’ Weekend with their BS Juniors, to look at NYU, Columbia, Barnard, Yale etc. They had more appointments lined up for March, and then May/June. They weren’t planning on touring in the Fall of their senior year if they could help it. Anyway, maybe this question is discussed in more detail over on the other boards?
We are planning to start in March, so
it doesn’t sound too late to me. Partly waiting because 8th grader is applying to HS now!
Just to clarify, we have already visited several schools on our own including some of the ones on the above mentioned tour. I am really curious if visiting with the BS counselor would give DD a different perspective and help her to clarify her interest in a school or if being with a peer group of friends would be distracting.
Anyone visited a college campus with a group?
I’ll do a search over on the college boards also…
