Hi all, Lawrentians and alike coming into prep school. Since school starts in about a week, I figured I'd open up a thread just for those last minute questions as you all are packing up and buying those final things. When I was going up to Lville for the first time, I consulted the ultimate packing list thread on CC and found that very useful...

Are you going early for preseason? and if so, what do people wear when they come on campus? Like do they come in regular clothes and then change into sports stuff later or do they come dressed to play?

perry - Great! I love Lawrenceville, hopefully you will too! During the school year, the dorms DO NOT have air conditioning. Some dorms have a/c in the summer, but it is turned off during the school year. Also, students are not allowed to bring window a/c unless they have a doctor’s note / medical reason. So in other words, yes BRING A FAN! Maybe even two, depending on how you like it. I have gotten by with one.

urbanflop - hmm you may want to ask an exeter kid this, but at Lawrenceville you can buy everything except your textbooks. Textbooks you find out on the first day or moving in day. Lville also has an on campus store where you can buy all of your school supplies (it is a bit pricey though). The basics are pens, pencils, TI calculator, binders, notebooks, paper, etc. I would also look at the ultimate school supplies list.

scaredbutchill - yes, I will be at Lville preseason, a lot of students will be actually. I do not go for sports though… But I am pretty sure you can wear regular clothes, but have clothes ready to change into just in case. Im not exactly sure when practices start, but I imagine that you will at least have time to unpack a bit.

freshmen are invited to preseason at lville. The reason would be that invitees are possible varsity level athletes. But for the most part, there are few freshmen at preseason

It really depends on the teacher. For the most part, you will get at least one teacher that cares each day so I guess it may be time to get some polos…
