Hi everyone,
I am a second-semester freshman looking to transfer out of my current university (very large, public, research institution), and I’d love some advice on what schools might be a good fit for me. Although it is a perfectly good school, it’s quite large and impersonal for me, and their programming for the fields I’m interested in (political science/international studies and mathematics) aren’t the best. In addition, the not-so-spectacular quality of certain extracurricular activities and the (lack of) school spirit is kind of disappointing.
For schools, liberal arts colleges that are somewhat smallish (anywhere from 5,000 to 20,000 people would be okay with me), with a reasonable amount of school spirit, a decent music program, and a model UN team would be ideal. Bonus points if the school system is on quarters. Any suggestions?
What’s your current GPA? What were your HS GPA and test scores?
What’s your parents’ budget - do you need financial aid, merit scholarships?
Hi! I did forget my stats, didn’t I? My high school GPA was a 4.0, I had a 33 ACT score, and my current college GPA is a 3.77 (I’m also in the honors program, if that counts for anything). I will probably need financial aid, but I qualify for a reasonable amount of federal aid and am willing to work if necessary.
I transferred to Tufts University from the University of Miami. Both sound like really good fits and I was particularly very happy at UM! I transferred for reasons you can PM me for, but I was generally very happy at UM. Tufts is academically a better school, but I have found myself unhappy there. PM me for more info I can help with both schools!
How did you choose your current university?
What budget restrictions do you have?
