Schools at which a 1400 SAT (CR+M) reduces billable OOS costs to <$20K (automatic)

Most of us have examined the long threads about automatic merit scholarships, but the details can be overwhelming. As a "CliffsNotes" version of all this information, I'd find it helpful to create a simple list of OOS tuition and fees, room and board for students with 1400s. Here's a list as a starter - can you add to it?:

Alabama - current year OOS costs = $8214 after Presidential Scholarship
Ole Miss - $13,594 after Academic Excellence Nonresident Tuition Award
LSU - $9,963 after Flagship Scholars Award (requires 1440)
Utah State - $5,070 after Presidential Scholarship
Ohio U. - $12,585 after Gateway Awards
Arizona State - $20,596) after President's Award (close enough)

University of Minnesota - Morris charges the same for OOS as for IS. Currently the cost of tuition, fees, room and board is $18,582. Additional automatic scholarships are available based on class rank: top 5%=$3500 per year, top 10%= $2,500 per year, top 20%= $1000 per year.

UMN Morris is a smaller campus, more like a LAC than a big public U.

[Non-Resident Freshman | Scholarships | Admissions | University of Wyoming](<a href=“404 - Page Not Found”>http://www.uwyo.edu/admissions/scholarships/non-resident-freshman.html)

University of Wyoming, OOS Tuition, Room & Board is $19,952
With the 5K Scholarship for OOS Freshman, cost would be: $14,952

*Alabama - current year OOS costs = $8214 after Presidential Scholarship
*

Are you including both the Presidential (free tuition) and the Engineering ($2500/yr) scholarships?

West Virginia University, COA is $24,870 for OOS, included Tuition, Room & Board.

“Academic Excellence Level 2” for OOS is $7,000/ per year, bringing COA to $17,870

Good point, Mom2CK - If the OOS 1400 at Alabama is an Engineering major, the figure drops to $5714.

Also, the OOS costs for South Dakota State are $13,720. For OOS 1400s at the U. of South Dakota, it would be $15,260.

Here’s the latest tally:

U. of Alabama - $8,214 after Presidential Scholarship ($5,714 for an Engineering major)
Ole Miss - $13,594 after Academic Excellence Nonresident Tuition Award
LSU - $9,963 after Flagship Scholars Award (requires 1440)
Utah State - $5,070 after Presidential Scholarship
Ohio U. - $12,585 after Gateway Awards
Arizona State - $20,596 after President’s Award (close enough)
U. of Wyoming - $14,952 after $5,000 OOS award
West Virginia University - $17,870 after “Academic Excellence Level 2”
South Dakota State - $13,720
U. of South Dakota - $15,260
Troy University - $0 after the Millennium Scholar’s Award (full tuition, room and board w/ a 1380)

I think Waco’s Baylor University can get you there.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. Just saying.

OK, this one may be another one, not exactly in black & white:

University of Nevada - Reno, OOS Tuition, Room & Board total $17,766

The Room & Board had various choices, I used the higher ones.

(Did not pick a single room, freshmen usually don’t get single rooms)
(Even with a single room, it would still be under $20,000)

The SAT of 1400 appears to get you merit of $1500 or $2500 per year.
There is a calculator there where you plug in GPA, ACT or SAT.

We seriously considered Wyoming for S1. We were quite impressed with some of the faculty bios, the engineering program and the new business school.

Re: Baylor, I don’t think so Xiggi… Baylor’s Tuition/Fees this coming year will be $32k, with another $11k for Room/Board, and $3k for books/personal for a COA of $46k. The automatic scholarship that comes with 1400+ is for $17,000, bringing tuition to $15k, and COA to $29k. They do much more for NMFs, but not simply for 1,400+ SATs.

^^ Gotcha. You have to have the SAT **and **the NM to get ful tuition rebated.

<a href=“Undergraduate Admissions | Baylor University”>Undergraduate Admissions | Baylor University;

Baylor provides a full tuition academic scholarship to National Merit Finalists who select Baylor as their first choice college. Further, the Regents’ Gold Scholarship is augmented by the recipients’ SAT* or ACT score.
