Hi!
So I'm a junior at a school in Saint Louis, Missouri. I've started the college search but I'm not entirely sure how to find the right place for me. I'm thinking that colleges in the midwest would be easiest travel-wise.

I'm in love with writing so I think I would major in English. Small schools are probably the best fit for me. I was told liberal arts schools would be my best best--a place for open-minded, accepting, creative individuals like myself. I'd love to be surrounded by a bunch of artsy fartsy kids.

Oh, and I get A's and B's and take two college-level classes. I scored a 27 on my ACT.

I'm looking at Webster University here in Saint Louis but I'm not sure about anywhere beyond my city's borders. Any advice or suggestions give will be greatly appreciated!

Look at the “Colleges that Change Lives” website for some great liberal arts colleges in the Midwest. Your 27 ACT puts you in the midrange for some of them. Beloit College may be a place you would like, for example.

Are finances a concern? Can your family pay full tuition or will you be looking for financial aid? Many of the “CTCL” colleges offer merit aid for stats. If you retake your ACT for a higher score, it might help (27 is by no means bad, but higher numbers mean more money in some cases).

I went to Lawrence in Wisconsin - it’s very much as you described (artsy-fartsy and creative). They have a music conservatory, art center and strong theater program so there’s a definite bias toward the creative arts as well as academics. Plus, the campus is lovely - right on the Fox River.
