I don’t like giving chances because I’m no expert. The best I can tell you is to try to improve your ACT and write a really great essay (start thinking about it now). Like others have said, UF admissions can be very quirky. They definitely use a holistic approach for OOS kids.
Your parents might feel differently about NY schools, if there is a possibility that you could pay less than $20,000 per year, versus $40,000 or more a year at an OOS public.
The SUNYS are fine for biological sciences and many other majors.

What is your GPA on a 4.0 scale and Class rank? Clemson could easily be a reach deepening on what major you are selecting on your application. They are getting more and more selective, had about 4,000 more applications this year than before and they don’t really pay attention to EC’s. They want to see consistency in GPA, test scores, Class rigor and class rank.
