school's late processing

I turned in my FAFSA on March 30. A week later my school received it but have been asking me to turn in verification forms. Long story short, all kinds of things have been going wrong and have been delaying this process. I gave the financial aid officer my parent's tax forms to make copies of and when I came home I noticed my mother's W2 wasn't in the original paperwork. I had to call the office back to make sure they had a copy of it before it was lost or maybe they can find the original in their copyroom. I was told they couldn't find the original and I would have to wait to see if they had the copy since it was in the middle of processing and they couldn't look for it. So I waited and was later told they didn't have it which meant that they couldn't process my parent's tax forms so I then turned in another copy of the W2. It is now May 25. I just called them to check on the status of my financial aid and was told that it hasn't been processed and I might have to turn in another copy of the same W2 and that they'll email me. I'm extremely frustrated especially since I saw the woman at the front desk stamp each paper I handed to her. I have also been calling them to check to see if they had my paperwork and each time they would just tell me that they don't know since its probably in the middle of processing. All of my friends have received their financial aid package, even ones who filed a month after I did. I'm just really scared of this affecting my financial aid package since the later I file the less there is left since all of the awards have been given out. How will this affect me? Help!

If the paperwork is gone, you have no choice but to resubmit it. Aid offices get thousands of pieces of paper a day during peak processing times. It is extremely important that you keep a copy of anything you submit. Do not submit anything that is smaller than a standard size piece of letter paper; copy it onto a standard sheet first. Always put your name and student number on every piece of paper you submit.

Don’t wait for them to contact you. Turn in another copy of the W2.
