I am a student at a very good public school (Bronx High School of Science) and I am applying to Brown for ED but I was just starting to make my list for colleges and it would be great if people could advise me. I need other universities like Brown because I absolutely HATE core requirements. I am also looking at PLME so any schools with 7-8 year MEDICAL programs would also be a great help. Thank you all in advance.

University of Rochester sounds like a good one for you to check out. No core (only very nominal distribution) and I think there is some sort of extended medical program there (the U of R med school is certainly not chopped liver).

I'm a student at Rice, and we have extremely easy distribution (which is even easier if you have AP credit) and great pre-med (the Rice-Baylor program is an uber-competitive 8 year program with Baylor College of Medicine. Something like 10 people a year get it). Washington University in St. Louis may be another good option.

Amherst may not have core, not certain.

Amherst has open curriculum.

I'm not sure about the core course part, but I know Wesleyan is similar in atmosphere to Brown.

Why are you so sure you'll hate core courses?

Wesleyan has some distribution "suggestions" (ie. required for some majors and for honors, but not to graduate) that a pretty easy (basically, 3 classes each in math/science, social sciences and humanties/arts). No actual core classes.

Another one that has a similar atmosphere as Brown and very little by way of requirments (I think just a languge requirment) is Vassar.

Oberlin has a LOT of Brown rejects.

Gallatin School at NYU, although of course NYU is not a campus school like Brown.

Northwestern has a 7 year MD program also. They do not have an open curriculum but they do not have a core like Chicago or Columbia either. The atmosphere is very laid back and the administration really caters to the students.

Do you hate a core curriculum or do you hate requirements, period? The latter matters because it will exclude a lot of other amazing schools. A lot of schools have distribution requirements, which are not like a core curriculum.
