similar to the other thread "schools that were avg. but are now competitive," which schools that are seen as average now do you think will become competitive and rise in the rankings as well? which schools do you know of are doing the most to improve their campus? (let's give say a 10 year time frame)

Well, I wouldn't call it an "average" school more like an under-rated school, but Earlham is attracting more applications every year.

Other schools that seem to be rising in popularity among applicants, and thus have a good chance of becomming less selective in the years ahead: Chapman U, Rhodes, Lawrence, Indiana U, Dennison, U of Redlands, Whitman, and the University of Washington.

haha yea i mean under-rated schools who will become competitive. in essence, schools we will hear much more about if we theoretically are on this website 10 years from now.

Well...

Olin for engineering is pretty much unheard of, but I assume will get very competitive in the near future.

Schools about to makes moves I believe are:

Northeastern University
Ohio University
Virginia Tech

Case Western, Beloit

IU! IU! IU!

But you have to admit, it's really easy to be more selective than admitting everyone with a pulse :)

Some of the less popular UCs, like Irvine and Santa Cruz, will probably become more competitive, especially if the economy slips and choices for the middle class diminish.

washburn university - topeka, ks - they've been on the "move" up. increasing enrollment, bringing in more traditional college student population, new living/learning center, new construction, upgrades to facilites, etc.

aren't they termed a "municipal" type school?

their women's bball team won the NCAA II championship title last season.

I think Wisconsin will increasingly be seen as an attractive option, sort of in Michigan's league.

hmm maybe Austin College and University of Tulsa

Canadian schools, my reasoning is the sa me as ASAP - middle class folks are looking to cut tuition costs without losing quality - Queens University, Dalhousie, Waterloo along others I think will have a higher profile in the US

how will chapman stack up against the california competition?

how would the UC's (including merced) be ranked?

Ohio University in the next 10 yrs...... good thing im applying this year

Wheaton in Mass.
