Schools that offer courses in Sign Language?

Are there any schools that offer COURSES in Sign Language? I don't want to major in it, but I was considering picking up the language while in college.

There are many schools that offer ASL courses. It all depends where you want to go, where you can get admitted, etc.

Consult the LCTL database. Nearly 300 colleges offer American Sign Language.

Thank you!

10% (I think) of RIT is hearing impaired so you would have plenty of opportunity to use sign language even if not majoring in it . For any major, you can register for classes that have sign interpreters. My DD was hired as a note-taker for these classes for students who needed to pay attention to the interpreter and unable to take notes at the same time. Knowing sign language would also help with on campus jobs.

RIT
Keuka College

…man! There was one more my friend applied to (she wants to be an ASL interpreter). But yeah, those 2 have tons.

But there are plenty of others that offer it as well.

a lot of schools offer ASL.

Cal state Northridge has an ASL teaching program

But don’t choose a school just for that, unless you’re sure you can get into the class. I was a deaf ed major. The program admitted very few students and even those students had a hard time getting their sign classes in before they needed to start interacting with students. The chance of a non-major getting into a sign class at my school was 0%
