High Schooler Learning ASL

I've been interested in learning American Sign Language since I was a little kid and have recently started learning it on my own. My school doesn't offer ASL as a foreign language class, so I'm interested in any free online courses that would help me, as a high schooler, become "certified" in ASL as a foreign language. Although I love learning new signs, I'd like it to be more serious than a hobby. A legit online course would be great! I guess basically a course that colleges would take seriously, if seen on applications. it may even be great to be on college applications in the future (hence this thread in CC lol). Although I'm not interested in focusing my whole future around ASL, i would love to become fluent in it one day.

Look into local colleges or other agencies that may offer courses. It isn’t really compatible to learning online, because part of success in ASL is being able to practice in person with other people very often, like, every day. It has it’s own sentence structure rules, etc. that have to be practiced more than spoken languages in my experience. I believe, also, that to become “certified” takes many years of study, not just a few. Even facial expression is part of the learning and communication - it’s a beautiful language.
