considering alot of USC's programs are in the top 10, saying the school is an "excuse", or on an opposite tandem to UCLA is extremely inane.

they should and do count as equal rivals at this point, in reality they indeed are. peoples inability to let go of rude stereotpyes should not be such a damning factor to the whole process.

I was just saying that the Princeton/Penn rivalry is more equal than the Stanford/Berkeley one. Since Stanford and Princeton are equal, and Penn is better than Berkeley, it makes sense to say that the Prince/Penn rivalry is on more level footing.

And why do you assume that Penn is better than Berkeley? Other than business, show me a couple more instances where Penn is higher ranked than Berkeley in the graduate department?

Everyone, leave rooster alone. He's a tree, he has to say these things. Take it with a grain of salt. I actually think he is a pretty level headed person for the most part (at least what I've read), but he has to make crazy statements when it comes to Cal vs stanfurd.

Gentle - Rooster just ****es me off with his blatantly anti-Berkeley posts. I guess when ur school mascot is a tree and u keep getting stomped on by the rival school in the big game.... there is some bitterness involved.

Princeton vs. Penn is equal (it's not our fault that we are smart kids who also know how to have a good time)

Just because it has more prestige doesn't give it a better academic reputation. When it comes to research and graduate school Penn has the leg up on Princeton.

Stanford vs Berkeley Equal (gotta love the stanford crowd pointing to the Berkeley side shouting "REJECTED" and pointing to themselves shouting "ACCEPTED". Harsh but very funny

that would be sad if penn lost to a school that doesnt have many grad programs. i would hope penn had the leg up in the graduate department :D

Prestige-wise Stanford/Berkeley and Princeton/Penn are unequal, especially if you compare it to Harvard/Yale. Let's not beat around the bushes.

When you compare UNDERGRAD schools, Penn is defeinitely better than Berkeley. I don't know why you guys are so quick to tout the graduate school rankings. On collegeconfidential, most of us are interested in undergrad strength only.

Also, the most glorified grad schools are Medicine, Law, and Business. Berkeley doesn't even have a medical school, and both it's law and business schools are second rate compared to Stanford's. Just to bring it into context, Stanford's Law school is ranked #3 while Berkeley's is ranked #11 behind NYU, UMich, Northwestern, and UVA among others. Stanford's Business school is ranked #2 above Wharton and Berkeley's is ranked #6 behind schools like Dartmouth and Northwestern, which aren't even known for their graduate strength. So when you say Berkeley is a graduate school powerhouse, you can truly only say that about its PhD programs. But let's face it, the most popular, lucrative, and powerful grad schools are Law, Medicine, and Business. In this regard, only Harvard and Stanford can truly be regarded as the top dogs.
