Schools with great music scenes

What are some big schools with good academics and good music scenes? I'm from MD, and would prefer to stay closer towards the East Coast or Midwest.

i'm a fairly skilled bassist, and i've played in a few bands that have played shows at local venues

Obviously, this isn't the only thing i'm looking for in a college... just sort of curious as to some schools with good music scenes

new york or boston or nashville.

Wesleyan, Columbia, Bard, probably in that order.

If you’re willing to go farther away, look in to The University of Texas at Austin. It’s the music capital.

Vanderbilt

The RollingStone had an article about this actually.

There you go!

UGA-Athens, baby.

Vanderbilt. I’m pretty sure you can see live music 365 days a year. My freshman has already been to about 6 concerts (all diffferent music genres except interestingly, country) and its only October.
