Schools your kid applied to that you never would have imagined

I'll start.

D is applying to Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland. An American University offering International Communications. Phew...I am excited for her but wondering how this all came to pass...

Mine is applying to Cambridge in UK...

University of Alaska Fairbanks ... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

mine is schools my daughter would have applied to if we could afford them..St. Andrews, Edinborough, Cambridge, U Wales, anywhere in Ireland. places where Medieval studies would be great, and anthropology would include GB and Europe. (g)
my understanding there is no $ for US students.

McGill in Canada . . .

War Studies College at King's in London

Cheers,
Would love to hear about your S/D's experience at King's if admitted! Did your student have to travel for the interview? My DS2 (a freshman in HS) drooled over your post. He is into military studies and history, and is taking a full IB diploma porgram, so int'l studies may be a serious part of his future. Thanks!

Oldin Jersey: American universities abroad accept the FAFSA the same way the colleges do here, so you can get federal money in addition to any scholarships the schools offer. I do know that the University Colleges in Ireland do not offer anything. Again, I believe they have to be American universities abroad.

after going to a jesuit hs for 4 years, applying to jesuit college...who wud have thunk it

University of Dayton. It's a nice school and all, but I'm not sure she knows it's in O-h-i-o and rather near I-n-d-i-a-n-a.

Anyone else?

The nice thing about snow in VA (and I'm speaking as a former Bostonian :) ) is that it is gone in 2 days. Ironically, our schools happened to have a 2hour delay today for icy conditions.

My D loved UR and it was a strong contender in her final choices. On Accepted Students Day, we noticed a lot of kids from the northeast states.

The kid who refused to apply to any UC's because they were "too big," applied to, was accepted by and is attending USC- 16,000 undergraduates!Ya never know!

Catholic colleges...
