I'm a High School Senior who has a 3.5 GPA, and is class ranked number 6. I have yet to take my SAT's; I take them next Saturday. My extracurricular activities include:
-Senior Prom Committee
-Yearbook Committee
-Dance Committee
-Senior Trip Committee
-United Way Partnership; painted lockers in my H.S., considered as community service.
-Taking AP English during Spring semester

I also received an award from Penn State itself. The award is The Pennsylvania State University Honors Convocation that's given to students who acheived well in Math and Science.

To any Schreyer student, what are my chances of getting in?

Unless you have a weighted GPA of over 4.0, I find it highly unlikely.
From my school, it seemed like the best applicant to NOT get accepted was a 4.2/2100, to give you a reference point.

Um, why on earth haven't you taken the SATs yet?

Not familiar enough with PSU to judge, but I would assume that unless you are coming from a very competitive high school that you won't get in...and do you mean that you've only taken one AP?

I just checked the stats on Schreyer...

Average High School GPA: 4.12
Average SAT: 1413

So unless you get an average of 750+ each section I would say you are not getting in. This is because the average applicant probably has higher GPA, at least equivalent ECs.

Honestly, on paper you seem to be about in the 50 percentile for a normal applicant. You need to take the SAT and get your application in soon, as there is rolling admission. The later you wait, the harder it is to get accepted regularly with the rolling admission. With a 3.5 and no SAT yet, I would say it isn't a lock. Schreyer acceptance is equivalent to an Ivy acceptance in terms of difficulty. Best of luck.

I agree with most of what everyone is saying here. Being a current Schreyer a student, I was accepted with a 3.9 uw/4.28 w GPA w/ lower than average SAT scores. However, the admit comm claim to be blind to your SATs now, ratehr they just look at your GPA, course load in HS, EC's, and awards/honors. SO if you took the hardest classes at your highschool and recieved that GPA then you may be ok.

It is really tough to get in though, so make sure your essays and letters of rec are top notch.
