Science Fair Inquiries

I’m a rising senior, and this summer I plan to participate in a not-so-well-known research program in which I’ll be working with a prof on food science and nanotechnology.

Aware that I started a bit late (b/c my school does not have a science fair tradition and there’s no anything sciency addressed at my school; and I’ve only been here for 2 yrs), I do think that I’ve tried hard enough to explore my potential opportunities and have found this research program.

I’d really want to enter some of the regional/national science fair competitions. My question is IT’S TOO LATE, isn’t it? I’ve noticed that the Google Science Fair submission deadline is in a few days, the state science fair competition has already passed (it’s in April), etc.

Is it true that I don’t have any opportunities to enter my research project before college admission starts? If so, I may have to submit my research paper as supplements to colleges IF THEY DO ACCEPT SUCH THINGS. If not, is there ANYTHING that I can participate and potentially get the results before Dec. at the end of the year?

No, there is nothing that would get you results before December. Most of them actually have deadlines around November or December, just to submit your work.

Is there a way that I can update my college application if I get my results later?

not in time for the results for any notable competitions

You can submit to both Intel STS and Siemens in the fall. You will be notified if you are a Siemems semifinalist or regional finalist in October - in time for your early apps. Intel STS announces their semifinalists in early January which is in time for you to update all of your RD colleges.
