Science Magazines

I'm back guys :] haha....You probably didn't even notice I was gone.

So I was at this conference thing, and the person in charge of Stanford Undergraduate Admissions gave us a little speech. He was like, "Okay. So first of all, anything that your friends, parents, and pause to emphasize COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL tell you is false....etc". I was the only one laughing because no one else really knew what CC was. Or they didn't want to admit it...

And onto my question....What science research publications/journals/magazines do you guys read? Non science related magazines would be appreciated too :]

Whenever I’m in the airport, I pick up a popular mechanics, science, or the like. I don’t really know the differences; I just pick whichever one seems to have the most interesting and educational articles (so I generally avoid like the “top gadgets” issues).

Nat Geo…
hahahaha, did the man from Stanford undergrad admissions really say that?

Thanks guys :]

And yea. haha. He really did say that. I was surprised to say the least…

Hahaha, I talked to this guy from Harvard Admission office half year ago, he said almost the same thing to me. But it is good to have “friends” here who are almost having same target as I do.

I read Scientific American. =D

Hi fairy! Lol, that must have been hilarious!

I read Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, and all sorts of car magazines (Car and Driver, Road/Track, Motor Trend, Automobile, etc). Whatever makes me feel smart haha!

SciAm is good. I don’t really like a lot of the other science magazines. Never really read Nat Geo though, but it looks good too.

Popular science or anything aerospace/astronomy related.

New Scientist
[08 August 2009 Issue Contents - New Scientist](Issue 3503 | Magazine cover date: 10 August 2024 | New Scientist)

Also, my mom sometimes brings home a magazine called “mechanical engineering”. Content is pretty self-explanatory. This magazine caters to readers with a stronger science background than the typical popSci type, which I kinda like.

^Is that mag in every convenience/drug( ie CVS)/bookstore? Sounds very interesting, where can I buy it?

^IDK, I get it after she goes to Detroit for auto stuff. I kinda doubt it can be found in some random store.

Here’s the wesbite: [Mechanical Engineering Magazine - MEMagazine](http://memagazine.asme.org/#) There are some online articles I think.

Oh thanks a lot, I really like auto stuff too. What does your mom do in Detroit? Does she actually work for the Big 3?

Science and Nature regularly. RNA occasionally. And Scientific American if I’m in a waiting room or something.

Other magazines like Seventeen and Marie Claire, since we order it.

Nature is by far my favorite though :D

Nah she is an auto-analyst.

Sweet, what’s her favorite company? That rocks, wish I could do that job right now!

The one she is an analyst for (some Ibank)? I can’t really say her fav. auto company for obvious reasons.

Haha, agreed! Thanks for the link to the mag, though! Never would have known about that…;)

REAL science journals ftw! Yes!

LOL yay!

I was like what is with all this Popular Science crap. :)
