I'm interested in Yale Engineering. I have lots of math and science contests, but no experience in engineering itself. I just like engineering because it has a research aspect and combines difference sciences. However, I'm perfectly fine with just studying science. Thus, engineering is just one of many interests form me. Should I still apply for the Yale Engineering school? If I apply, does that hurt my chances at getting into Yale compared to if I just applied just as a science kid?

When you apply to Yale for undergrad, you are admitted to the college itself. From there, you can major in anything you like, including engineering. Your declared major will not affect your chances of admission at all. Lots of people switch what they intend to major in, so they don’t put much weight on that.
