Science National Honor Society - Questions

I'm considering starting a chapter of SNHS at our school. I have some questions about it:

Chapter advisors, are these students, or teachers?

What was the membership application for you guys like?

How did you guys "choose" members after the applications?

How do monthly meetings sound? How about requiring maybe 5 hours Community Service?

Teachers, I think.

Standard stuff. Teacher recommendations, list of any science / math awards.

Membership is for strong science students with commendable academic records.

Community service is for the regular NHS. Force them to take national science tests, in addition to tutoring in the sciences.

Sorry if I doubt you, but that sounds pretty stringent! Should the regular requirements be modified that much? These are the requirements on the SNHS site: [Science National Honor Society](http://www.sciencenhs.org/membership.html)
