Science?

I just wonder if it is going to hurt my chance if I do not take any sciences this year. I am totally a social science person, but becasue someone said it's good to take at least one science for the application, I am taking chemisty, which I am not even interested in. Even my counsellor said, if i want to go to university in the states i have to take one, not as an option.

IS THIS TRUE? I hate science and don't want to waste my time doing chem. I'd rather do psychology or geography.

Lots of thanks,

Depends on where you want to go- if you are aiming for the Ivy-league and other schools of that caliber, than yes, you should take a science all throughout HS.
If you are aiming a little lower, I would say about 3 years would be sufficient (just my opinion though), but nevertheless, colleges do prefer you to take science all throughout HS.
