After visiting Rice this year I fell in love with the campus. I started doing research on the score policy on the website and only could find definitive information on the SAT where they want all SAT scores if SAT is being submitted. ACT policies is not clearly stated. My questions are do I send all ACT scores and since I am sending the ACT do I have to send the SAT since I have taken the SAT once?
Rice sent this email out yesterday:
"As you may know, Rice University requires all applicants to submit either SAT scores and the results of two SAT Subject Tests or to submit results from the ACT. We have no preference between these two options, nor do we have a preference for the old SAT or the new, redesigned SAT. If you take either exam more than once, we will use only your highest individual section scores, in the case of the SAT, or your highest composite ACT score, in our evaluation.
In order to ensure every applicant benefits from this policy, we require the results of all such exams be submitted to Rice. If you have taken the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, or the ACT and elected to suppress the release of any of your scores, please release them now to ensure that you meet our application deadlines. "
It seems they want all scores but he email refers to SAT OR ACT also – I suggest you (or someone) call them on Monday - many people would love clarification.
If your results on the ACT and the SAT are comparable, there is no harm in submitting both, particularly if they are good as one serves to confirm the other. As you can seCA1543’s write-up, Rice does NOT superscore the ACT. Last year was the first year that they began superscoring the SAT.
