I took the ACT like 3 months ago and i got a 23
i didn't study AT ALL it was more of a practice run
my scores were like this;
english 24
math 16
reading 30
science 21
essay 8

as you can seee im not a math/science logical thinking person at all
i want to be a journalist and it makes me amd that i have to take these dumb tests
when i dont even need math anyways
i want to get AT LEAST a 30 + on the ACT
How did you all study for the math section?
and is it worth taking the ACT everytime its offered?

okay so the first step is to not come on here and actually go out and study.
First of all, you should have taken school classes in Algebra and Geometry.
Use Princeton Review and study the math section. I also recommend Barron’s 36 for a really rigorous math course. once you know all the principles of math and content, you should be ready.
The way to score 30+ is to take practice tests. The problems you don’t know are the ones you need to learn. If this doesn’t work, hire a tutor.
You can’t increase your score unless you practice, end of story.

^
Speaking from my past experience, I really can’t recommend Barron’s 36 to study math. Because the book is short, the math section can really get complicated and it contains a considerable number of mistakes. Otherwise, it is a good book to study for the other sections.

When I was studying for the math, I threw that book to the side and studied from Barron’s Math Level 1.

Yes it was for SAT II Math Level 1. I had it in hand so I used to review. But I’m sure there are better books to study from that are specialized on ACT Math, so I suggest looking into those if you are to buy one.
