I am in 10th grade, and am taking the ACT on April 9th. I have one of the ACT prep books that has real tests from previous years in it, and I took a complete test and did as follows:

English- 27. I took this with my T.V. on and was having trouble concentrating. I can make over a 30 on English fairly easily.

Math- 23. I have not taken Algebra 2 yet, and I think that will help me a lot.

Reading- 33. Reading is so easy for me, it is not out of the realm of possibility for me to make a 36 on this section.

Science- 30. This also seemed really easy, so no worries.

Final score- 28 1/4. I want to make at least a 30. If I had made a 30 on English, my score would have been a 29. So it is more or less essential for me to make a 25 or higher on Math, and after taking around 5 practice tests and scoring under 25 every time, I need help.

So, do you guys know of any good sites for math? Any advice on improving my math score?

Honestly, I don’t think there is any better way to learn the math concepts than taking the classes. Studying the concepts on your own would only enforce bad habits.

So I’ll help you with something (from personal experience).

Don’t ever tell yourself you got any score other than what you did. Telling yourself that you can make a higher score than you did on a practice test will hurt you in the long run - because you will study less. Just my two cents. :)

Did some more practice. I did all sections except math from the Real ACT Prep Book, the one with real tests from previous years. Math I did from ACT’s website.

Reading- 34. Reading is just so easy, I can make 33 or 34 every time, if not better.

English- 29. Not bad, would not have minded a 30 though.

Math- 23. Frustrating, I will do better after I have taken Algebra 2.

Science- 35. Science is so easy.

Composite score- 31 1/4. So close to a 32.

I would be happy to duplicate these results on the real thing.

Also, I realize this varies greatly, but if I were to attend a school that costs about 16,000 a year with food and board with a 32 ACT and 3.7 GPA, what would I be looking at in cost after scholarships. Use Ole Miss as an example, since I might go there. TY in advance.

The ACT covers up to pre-calculus, so you should take another two years of math and then retake the test and I am sure you will do fine on math.
