Hello,

So, has anyone ever scored higher on their actual SAT versus the their practice tests?

Thanks

I took one practice test and I got like a 2130. I took the SAT once and got a 2300.
I can’t explain it.

Were you more relaxed when taking the actual?

I was completely at ease during both. I took the SAT in March of my junior year so I knew I had plenty more opportunities if I messed up. And the practice was just practice - no stress whatsoever.

for my second sitting, i got like 2300s- 2350 on practice tests, and 2270 on the actual,
this was lower than my first sitting score of 2290

First time I took a practice test, I got a 1900. On my fourth practice test, I got a 2100. On the actual test, I got 2250.

interesting and impressive…

i was scoring borderline 600’s for critical reading on practice tests, but i scored a 670 on the actual CR section in may. Math and Writing were pretty constant.

First practice, low 2100s. First time taking the test, 2300.

My practice tests ranged from 2000 to 2200 because I made careless mistakes, finished in half the time and didn’t check my answers. On the real SAT, I got over 2300, because I actually concentrated.

You almost always score higher on the real thing. One, because College Board makes the SAT, so they’re questions are much less ambiguous and two, as engadget said, you concentrate a lot more on test day. :)
