Well, I recently took the SATs (the reasoning test, not a specific one) and received my scores. Apparently, I did "above average", according to the side that shows my percentile rank. However, I would still feel a little better getting an opinion from someone who has taken the test before, or at least has more experience in this area (whether or not I am given a "positive" response).

My test scores are as follows (By the way, don't flame me for my essay score, I'm sure I could have done better on any other day):

Critical Reading:
SCORE - 570
NATIONAL PERCENTILE - 71%

Math:
SCORE - 540
NATIONAL PERCENTILE - 56%

Anyways, I guess if I calculated it in terms of the old test (the 1600 one), I would have a total score of somewhere around 1100, so that isn't horrible right? Of course it isn't as good as the one that jym mentioned. But I'll probably do well enough by the time I'm in 12th grade, correct?

I really am not very impressed. As long as you could make a basic, educated guess on each question, chances are that you'd end up with those scores. Remember, in each section the first 200 points are given.

And you're above average if you consider the fact that the composite includes people of every background in the US--people who probably haven't been given the same opportunities you have, people of different socioeconomic backgrounds, etc. "Above average" on the SAT is nothing to really be proud of considering what you're given in comparison to what others aren't.

And what's your point of posting? Your age really shows, and it's funny because you're bragging about something that isn't even very good for your age. I did better than that as an 8th grader, and I know several of my friends who did as well.

I'm actually in 7th grade... I was born in January.

And who said I was bragging? I commented on getting above average solely because I didn't think it was going to be "correct", per se, which also directly relates to my reason for posting this.

No need to be a B**** about it bro. Anyway go to some summer camp or something. The problem with the talent searches, is I always expected more help or interpretation of the scores & what one should with it. The programs such as the summer ones were very much out of the range of one that I could afford. I was ****ed that my birthday made it almost impossible for me to qualify for SET, but it's all good.

Anyway be proud you did just as well as/ better than a significant part of the collegbound senior/junior population. Just because you didn't beat every other gifted kid who took test, doesn't mean you didn't do well. Just think of how well you are likely to perform when you are a senior.

Spartan, those scores are pretty good for a 13 yr old. I took the PSAT at age 13 (Closer to 14 though. I was a Freshman in HS and I had a December birthday), and I got a 157 out of 240. My Senior SAT score is over 400 points higher, so I think you'll be scoring at least a 2000 by the time you take it as a junior or senior.

I don't know which talent search you took the SAT for, but Duke has a nice page on interpreting 7th grade scores for people who tested through TIP. They also include advice on what you should be doing now to make the most of your abilities.

spartan-
You should be proud. Those are cetrtainly strong scores. As eg1 points out, those scores should be compared to other 7th graders taking the test, and your scores are great. Your first post compares your scores to HS Jrs and Srs. Even so, the scores are avg to high avg. so be proud. FWIW, my older s didn't do quite as well on the 7th grade SAT as younger s, but did better on his SAT's in his jr yr of HS than younger s. So, you never knnow.

2370 - an I was 12 (I'm 13 now).
800 CR
780 M
790 W

And yes, I am one-upping, but I really am 13 now. And I really was 12 in March when I took the SAT. I've joined SET now (a "club" for people who score ridiculously high before they are 13).
