Hi all.

I've been reading posts on CC that below 2250 SATs are really not good enough for HYPS, etc.

My SAT is 2180.
SAT 2: 800 Math, 680 Lit
ACT: 33

I'm very confident with my GPA, ECs, volunteer hours, and my essays. That being said, are those scores detrimental?

I'm applying to H, Y, P (legacy), S, Berkeley, UCLA, USC

A score of 2180 is indeed slightly low, as the 25-75 percentile of HYPS are approximately 700-790 for each section of the SAT, but your chances will not likely be significantly affected.

HYPS are be reaches for almost anyone even with a score of 2400.

Meanwhile, good grades/test scores and reasonable ECs will, with a good degree of reliability, get you into Cal, LA, and USC.

Hi Bubbles.

How about for Cornell & Brown?

I was confident about UCLA at first, but they have around 90,000 applications this year so chances severely lessened!

Cornell is the last ivy that unhooked applicants with high stats and strong ECs can quite reliably get accepted to.

UCLA has a lot of applicants, but it’s artificially inflated because anyone applying to any other UC can just check a box to apply to UCLA as well.
