w00t. Continues my PSAT 232-233 streak. A little dissappointed in the 740 verbal, my lowest verbal yet, but overal its cool.

I had no prior review or any of those prep-classes. I kinda just took it to see how it would feel. I felt that the test itself was quite simple [minus reading&the essay, I did horrible on it!!] but that doesn't reflect well when you see my test scores. Should I take some kind of prep-class? My sister told me that if I take the SAT again I would be just wasting my time because unless I do anything [prep etcc...] I will get the same score more or less. Congratulations to all of you who did well.

Oh yeah and one more thing, can you take the SATs as many times as you wish or do they get your average by the time you do 4 or something.

I can understand the frustration with high scorers wanting to retake, many kids in my school got a 2200 and are retaking. I got a 2100 and am retaking, and many call me crazy. For some people they know they can do better and are simply disappointed. One retake is not such a big deal.

Woohoo!

CR- 800
M - 760
W- 800 (80 MC, 10 essay)

2360... :D :D :D

i got 670 math, 690 verbal, 720 writing with 71/80 and a 10 essay.
total 2080...okay but i wanna break 2100 next time.

when will we get percentiles??!!??

Wow - seems like the essay grading was HARSH. My friends are really good writers (get high grades on essays for AP USH) and they got a 7 and 9 respectively. A lot of smart and good writers here also didn't do too hot on the writing part. Anyways, congrats to all the awesome scores - and AZP you rock!! haha

Ahh, BU Class of '09 haha no more SATs ever for me (well im a senior so no new SAT for me anyways!)

math 720
CR 550
writing 670
---1940 combined this is the worst day of my life

In my school my teachers, my class mates ect.. tell me I am very intelligent, In all my classes I earn the highest grade, I get the highest grade on all the tests, In English especially I thought I was skilled. My teachers love my essays. I thought I had this SAT thing down, maybe not all 700's + but atleast 600's+. Today I recieved my scores, 470 Math, 550 CR, 560 Writing, 7 essay. Is it because I am not intelligent like all you folks getting 600's 700's 800's? My school sent 50 kids to UCB and UCLA this year, probably 100 to the rest of the UC's, atleast 20 to the Ivies. Its not that my school is stupid or easy, the students going to the top colleges have had the same teachers that think Im so great. I wonder why then do I have 550 and 560 in the subject I am so good in class at. Is it fair that Ive done so much, been president of clubs, volunteered my time all over the place for hundreds of hours, had so much stress to do well. Took a 14 week SAT prep class every Saturday, had almost no time to enjoy my high school days fully, and now instead of having a chance at a respectable college, I am going to end up at a Cal State or if im lucky UC Riverside. This one test screwed up everything. Maybe Im just stupid, I wonder...

Hey Maxpowers there are bunch of intelligent people who don't do that well on the SAT...it's not an intelligence test
Maybe you bubbled wrong and jus didn't know it...

Maxpowers maybe you should try the ACT? And no YOUR NOT STUPID!!!. Sign up for the June ACT^_^ that's what i'm doing...but i wonder if i will have enough time to prep(being that i have ap test and everything).

wowwwwwwwww i am such an idiot, maybe it had to do with the fact that i walked in the test room, while listening to the cure, hadn't slept that well, didn't eat breakfeast, and watched alot of tv and did not prepare for this test at all, well guess what my score is. I have by far the lowest score in here ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol, no worries though, i have 2 years more, everyone in here acts as though it's the end of the world! Well it's not, well now i will tell u what my score is, it's a 1560 lololololol :)~~~~~~~~~~

Ya i agree people with over 2200's should stop complaining... i got:

740 M 580 CR (ouch) 600 W (another ouch)... 1920, i got a 191 on my PSAT so i guess i did better..... o ya and i didn't study at all just like the night before.. so woo hoo! I'll take it in September cause i forgot to register... and they're during AP's

2h2h06 we have the same messed up scores too!! did u study?? i'm hoping that the ACt from april will be good too btw...

Maxpowers: I can completely sympathize with your situation. I may not have as many extracurriculars as you do, but I too share your talents in English and writing. In fact, shortly after learning of my abysmal performance on the SATs, I discovered that I had a 96% in my English class where many of my fellow students did not even have "A"s. What's more, I received a paper back that many of the class got a "C" on; I got a 97%. And yet despite all this, I scored poorly in writing and critical reading. Oddly enough, my best score was in math, which I usually do poorly in (I have yet to receive an A in a math class...)

I'm going to be taking the ACTs in June to see how I will fare. They are based more on knowledge than they are on analysis, which many students prefer to the SATs.

I've also realized that I sadly I have not the mental preparedness nor the academic records to get into any of the schools I want to. All hope is not lost though, I've decided today that I will be going to community college for two years and then transferring to UCLA through a special program. You can not give up hope... there will always be a way to go to the school you want to go to.

the essay grading was harsh. Writing is my best skill, and I have got a perfect score on every standard essay I have ever written in my life (Elementary through high school), and I only got an 8. I got a 10 on the Kaplan practice test, and was hoping for that, but when i saw the 8 i was like ***.

yea i got a 10 on ACT and an 8 on the SAT, doesn't anyone know the curves/percentiles?

Hmph... I got 710 Math, 800 Critical Reading, 800 Writing (11 on the essay)... 2310, not sure if I should retake because the math is far below PSAT-esque expectations...

Maxpowers, I feel the exact way as you.

I am on three sports teams, 4 clubs, tons of volunteer hours, play an instrument and am going to boys state. I have the highest grade in my AP US history class and ap lit class, yet I am a terrible standard test taker. I only got a 1630, which is bad now, but I can definitley improve upon it.

I took a kaplan practice test before studying or anything and got a 1590, with a 10 essay, 590 writing, 560 critical reading, and 440 math. Yes thats right, 440 math, on the brink of retardedness and I am an all I student.

With that said, I think you should get your parents to get you the princeton review online course. I only did the math part of it before the march test, and my score went all the way up to a 600, and I am sure it will increase next time.

Some of us are just bad test takers, we can't do anything about it but study.

CR - 720
W - 660
M - 640

2020

(not too happy w/ math as i know i can do better. rest is all right by me :))
