Scores

What is the typical GPA and SAT score needed to get into Tulane?

That information is widely available on the internet. I only mention that because in looking that up you will see other interesting info as well. But to answer your question, the 25-75 percentile range for Tulane is typically 29-32 for the ACT and, give or take a few points, about 625-710 for each section of the SAT. So while you cannot really just add those up and get an accurate composite for the 25-75 SAT, it will be close. So call it 1870-2130. In other words, just to be clear, 25% of Tulane students are below 1870 total for the SAT, and 25% are above 2130. Again, give or take a few points.

As far as GPA, that is not as accurate or relevant as citing how many are top 10% of their class, etc. But Tulane reports that about 30% had a 3.75 or better, 25% between a 3.5 and 3.75, 22% between a 3.25 and 3.5, and 15% between a 3.0 and 3.25. Those are unweighted GPA’s. More relevant, 58% were in the top 10% of their class, and 83% were in the top quarter.

Actually Tulane posts the stats for the middle 50% right on their web site http://admission.tulane.edu/apply/gettinginto.php</a>. The SAT number is higher on the bottom end than I though. Just shows how dangerous it is to simply add up the 3 individual categories. The correct 25-75 percentile for the SAT composite is 1960-2140. It did turn out very close on the high end. Interesting.
