Hey for the few of you who are in SCPS for either Hotel Management or Sports Management I am more than happy to answer questions. I know when I went through the process there was no group for this small section of NYU so feel free to ask away...

Hi SINYU911,

I’m a senior right now I’m definitely applying for the hotel management major in SCPS. I was wondering if you could post your stats so I have more of an idea of what they want. I would love to hear about your experience with the classes/workload as well.

Thanks!

I was going to say the exact same think as pinknberry… I applied for ED1 for hotel management, I couldn’t be more nervous!
A different question-- how are the internship opportunities? The NYU website places a heavy emphasis on the fact that there are tons of internship opportunities, is this false advertising or are internships really that numerous? I’m interested in high-end hotel management, I’d love an internship at the Plaza, Essex House, Trump, etc. I know it’s probably not particularly ‘easy’ to get these internships, but how much easier is it to get an internship being at NYU? How helpful is the school? Is the fact that you’re studying at NYU viewed as impressive by such hotel employers?

on another note, pinknberry, where else are you applying? I was accepted to UCF Rosen, and that was my second choice, so I’m not applying anywhere else. Just waiting for December 18th to come…

Thanks for making this thread!

@tniemann It’s so nice to know that someone is applying for this major and you also applied early decision! I can’t wait to hear news from you when the results come out! Definitely shoot me a message somehow. Haha~ I’m also really interested in internship opportunities in high-end hotels too. It’s always been my dream to work in a hotel. I’m definitely keeping you in my prayers and hopefully I’ll be able to get in when regular decision results comes out!

I’m also applying to Boston University, Fordham, Northeastern, Marist, etc. and just basically a lot of schools around New York and Boston. Haha~ Most of them don’t have hotel management, but I can also opt for management/business in general ^^At least you have your back covered since you got accepted to your second choice!

Thanks! I was going to apply to BU, but when I was accepted to UCF I made the decision that I’d probably choose it over BU, so it wasn’t worth doing the application. Same with applying to other schools for management/business.
Those are all such great schools! Good luck!
