Screwed because of a stupid mistake

Due to multiple reasons (I've been so stressed with school, personal issues, and family financial issues that I forgot), I didn't send my SAT scores to UW until today. I rush reported it, which said that my scores should be sent in 1-2 days, but I am freaking out, because UW says that my SAT scores must be on file by December 15th in order to be accepted. I know I was stupid and I know that this is all my fault, but does anybody know how long it takes UW to internally process SAT scores? I've emailed UW Office of Admissions, and I will try and call tomorrow, but I just don't know what to do now. The reason I waited so long was that I thought I could wait to save up enough money for all my score reports and send them to all my colleges at once. Because I chose the rush service, I've only sent it to UW.

I have my application all ready to go now (because I wanted to have my teacher read over my essay one more time), but I'm just stuck on checking the box that asks if I've sent my scores and whether my SSN is on it.

Now I'm freaking myself out by wondering whether or not CollegeBoard means 1-2 actual days or business days.

Probably 1-2 business days, as in the shipping truck is driving somewhere with your scores. I think you’ll get them there in time, and the school will likely stamp them received on the date they arrive whether they’ve processed them yet or not. Since UW doesn’t do rolling admission anymore, you should be fine. However, I recommend calling the school on the 14th to see if they have them yet.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have submitted my application and explained in the additional information section why I have not sent my scores yet (or why they didn’t have it yet when I submitted my application). I will definitely call to see if the school has received them on Tuesday. I feel so foolish for letting such a stupid mistake affect my chance of being accepted.

Is it okay to have sent out scores before submitting the application?

^Yes, I ended up doing that by mistake. No big deal.

Wait… how is sending our SAT scores before submitting the application bad?

^To my knowledge, it’s not. As long as they are in their office by December 15th.

I wish they would send confirmation of receiving scores though, I sent them through college board in October and they are the only school who doesn’t confirm receiving them, and they don’t give out student logins to check the application status. Although they did say they would contact us if they needed additional information? It’s not all that clear, and it seems like they highly discourage calls checking the status…

OP should be fine, the rush delivery will get them there.

^
Yeah, suggarrush, I definitely hate that too. I mean it wouldn’t take that much effort to do what every other college is doing, including WSU! Haha

If you’re nervous about your scores being on file, you can always call the office. I did that last year to make sure all my information was on time, and I had a good chat with the admissions officer about it. She wasn’t rude or anything, although some people do have bad experiences when calling the office.

I just read this, freaked out, and sent my ACT and SAT scores on last night (the 11th). I rush delivered my SAT scores, but the ACT doesn’t have that option. Hopefully they get my ACT scores on time because those are the ones that are going to get me accepted…

^ same with me. can anyone inform us if they have called admissions about sending in the act this weekend? I need to know if electronic ACT differs from the normal. Will be within 1 day or a week…? I’d rather get an answer here than call admissions for a question that may have been very repetitive. But if need be, I will call/email. thanks

Are you sure they need to be in the office by the 15th, or just postmarked? I know postmarks are accepted for applications and official transcripts - not sure about test scores.

Also, I applied (and was admitted) for winter quarter. I forgot about one of my transcripts until the day before the due date (Sept. 15th). I recieved confirmation that the transcript was sent on the 16th and the UW had it posted in the system by the 17th. They never brought it up as an issue.

Good luck!

Thanks, everyone.

@MileHigh: I hope your scores made it too, but I haven’t taken the ACT so I wouldn’t know anything about that, sorry. :l

@cdj383: On the website it says it needs to be “on file” by the 15th, whatever that specifically means. Hopefully that means it’s received by the 15th, but not necessarily that it has gone through UW’s internal processing. Congrats on being admitted!

Another question: Under my send score history on College Board, it says “We sent the following scores on December 13, 2010” but then below that, it also says “We sent the following scores on December 16, 2010”. I’m a little confused as to why there are two, because the scores under each date are exactly the same. Anyway, I’m hoping the first one went through successfully.

But you guys are right. UW should set up a confirmation system for standarized test scores. Wouldn’t that take a load off?

^They should also go back to rolling admissions. I finished my application the first week of October, so I will have waited like five months before I hear my decision lol

When I was applying to UW last year, I used the net id (myUW id) and checked under the admissions box for a link that took me to a page that showed all the transcripts/test scores that they received and recorded. If any are missing, notify them immediately.

Let’s say your SAT scores never made it. Show UW the confirmation page that you had from college board saying you sent it. Figure out why college board never sent your score (or are they just super late?). If the transaction never got through, send the scores again. I know it would cost more, but make sure UW has your scores, then complain to college board.

Aren’t Net IDs only for students who have already been accepted to the university?

no, I received my ‘set up your account’ letter last year about a week after I applied.

I could view limited pages on myUW, such as the admissions page where I check to see what they have received, my intended major, and status of the application. I use the same account I set up last December as my school account now.

It could be different this year.

It’s different this year. They just send you an email when they receive all your stuff, and then you don’t hear from them again until they’ve made a decision.

…at least that’s how it is for me. Maybe I’m wrong, and something got messed up.

^
I think you may be wrong, Aspire. I was trying to set up a myUW acc. a few days ago, but it asked for some # code, that I obv. didn’t have. So I called the UW admissions office and asked about that and they told me that they send # codes in the mail about a week or so after you submit your app. So… I think it’s pretty much the same as last year, even though it’s pooling admissions now.

Hmm, that’s interesting because in the email they sent me a few weeks after I sent in my application they specifically said:

…so I figured that meant that there was no way to tack your application. Maybe I’ll give them a call on Monday.
