I'm supposed to have over 30 units from community college courses, plus more from AP credit so I should have at least sophomore standing when I register for Spring 2012 classes.
However... Bearfacts has me as a freshman. I talked with my advisor and she says that telebears appointments have already been set and that I'll just need to deal with the fact that I'm going to get a late appointment time with freshman standing. Basically the registrar has not input all of my units and credits in time for Spring 2012 registration.
Is there ANYTHING I can do to get myself bumped up to sophomore standing? I'm going to be shafted out of some pretty crucial classes for sure...

I doubt it. People have been having this problem for years.

The only thing you can do is try to beg your way into classes that you really need (i.e. major classes)

I don’t know if you can necessarily change your TeleBears appointment, but there may still be a way to make sure you get in the class.

My appointment this summer at CalSO got messed up; not only was I at literally the last CalSO date, my account was having a server error message and it took about 10 days for it to get fixed/for me to be able to log on. By the time I got to the class I wanted during the school year, I was at position #80 on the waitlist (and I got in). I talked to the professor and he referred me to a counselor and I went to talk to her, she bumped me up. If the class is important for your major, try to get the professor or your side, or remind him/her to do something about kids who don’t show up for the first few days of classes to drop them.

I think this was done on purpose. I had 57 or so units from AP and community college and BearFacts listed me as a “sophomore” student with non-AP “freshman” level. Mind you, I was set as this BEFORE Tele-bears dates were made. I still ended up with Freshman enrollment date. I remember reading that basically the extra units only put you in priority of those within your class, not beyond that.

I have read a theory saying that AP units don’t count but community college units do. I believe it because my previous roommate had a ton of community college units that bumped her to junior telebears appointments whereas my other floormates had nearly the same number of AP units and yet were stuck with freshmen appointments.

In any case, I think the windows overlap a bit. Of course it sucks to have to waitlist all your courses but that’s what exploiting ninjacourses is for. I tend to have >10 possible schedules before Phase 1, and then they get adjusted every day after that…

I have enough CC credits to bump me to sophomore standing at the very least. Grr :(
