Screwed up major requirements

Hey guys.
I'm a rising sophomore and I want to major in statistics.
I've been doing great in my statistics classes (all solid A) but I did horrible in Math 53 and I'm doing SO, SO bad in Math 54 right now.

I got a C- in Math 53, and thus got royally screwed over.
I don't even know how I can go about trying for a stats major now seeing how I'm required to have a C or higher in all prerequisite classes. Is there any way I can get a C or higher in Math 53 again?

Also for Math 54, I'm legitimately about to get an F. I'm having a lot of family issues with many family members in hospitals for treatment but I don't know if that's good enough of an excuse. In fear of getting an F, I changed Math 54 to a P/NP basis, but I think I need to change it back to letter-grading, as I need to retake the class if I can't drop it for a higher grade.

I also want to apply to Haas just to take some investment & finance classes but now I don't even know if I'll even have a chance with Math 53 and Math 54 dragging my grade down so much.

I'm about to send a petition to drop Math 54, but I don't know if that will solve anything. If the class does get dropped, does that mean I can retake the class for a letter grade in later semesters?
I'm so confused and so hurt right now..

Is my college career really going to end this way?
Advices please..

Also the most important question:

Can I retake a NP Math class for a letter grade next time around?
Thanks in advance,
T

Yes, you can repeat an NP for a letter grade (but you cannot repeat a letter graded course P/NP).

Okay, solid. Awesome!

Any solutions to the C- in Math 53? Should I talk to the major advisors (statistics or mathematics) about using a C- for a major prereq?

You can always take NP classes again for sure.

Yes, talk to the major advisors about it. The statistics major web page says that a C or higher is needed in all prerequisites, and you must have a 2.0 GPA in prerequisites and major courses.
