screwed up my gpa... do i still have a chance at these competitive schools?

Schools- Harvard, NYU, Yale, Johns Hopkins BME, Cornell, U Pitt (guaranteed med prgrm), BU, Sophie Davis, Stony Brook (Scholar of Medicine prgrm), Binghamton

Preferred- Johns Hopkins BME, Cornell, Harvard

Going into senior year, I had a 95.10% Unweighted GPA (straight As), and was probably in the top 5-10% in terms of rank. Then this happened.

Can’t you still bring up your first quarter grades during mid-terms? A large drop in grades senior year never looks good.

as I said, I will make every effort to make up for this 2nd qtr, but idk if I can get every class to average at a 90+

I mean, you can see that at least for chemistry, I need a legit 100 next quarter to have a 90 mid year

The large drop looks terrible. Do everything you can to get them up before midterms – and I mean EVERYTHING.

…crud.

i’ll do everything i can, but it probably will still end up being sub par… will a mid year report like this still screw me over?

AP Bio-93
AP Chem-88
AP Calc BC-91
AP Spanish-93
AP Gov- 91
AP English- 90

i’ll have to get like 97s to even have a mid- year like this…

bump…

Get of the web and go study.

Talk to your teachers and be penitent. Ask if there is anything you can do extra to get your grades up because you realize you have done great harm to your college goals.

although I did not manage to rectify my grades much, I still received admission to Cornell’s Engineering school and was waitlisted by U Penn. I’m posting this just so others can have an idea of how senior grades may or may not affect college decisions. (I was flat out rejected by Harvard, Yale, JHU, and a few accelerated med programs)
