Looking for some people’s perspectives on why they love/don’t like the school and why they would recommend it over the other! I have visited both and I am genuinely considering both. I should be a competitive applicant for both schools.
I am looking to study business (marketing, management, or entrepreneurship), communications, and film/media.
What are the job prospects from each college? What is student life like? What is the level of academics (too facile, to difficult)?
As someone who was at Wash U in the 80s (so … probably very different climate) and now lives in California… they seem like very different schools. Where do you live now? I can’t comment on the job prospects or the classes. If you currently live in CA, moving to the midwest will be a bit of a culture shock. And vice versa. Not that you shouldn’t do it, because college is about stretching your horizons, but a small school in a small town near a very big, world-class city (Scripps) has a VERY different feel from a medium school in a regionally-large midwestern city.
Scripps doesn’t have a business major. You may be able to complete one at CMC, but it could be challenging to get all the classes you need. Have you visited both?
@washuguard I am from the Northeast. My father and some of my family is from the Midwest. Neither should be too much of a culture shock, I don’t think. How are St. Louis winters?
@intparent I visited both schools and they both have amazing but different qualities (that’s what makes this decision so hard)!
At Scripps I would major in econ and media studies or create my own major.
St. Louis gets a real winter but much milder than winters in the Northeast. Less snow, less cold. I loved WashU back in the 80’s (hi washugrad!).
