I just called the admissions office and they didn’t have any information, they said what was stated on the website which is late december for release. Im very nervous as I applied ED this year.
The admissions offices everywhere will just “toe the company line.” I wouldn’t expect anything different from any school when contacting them.
It’s another wait for 5 PM PST again today. As homerdog mentions above, it’s only the 10th of the month and the prior 3 years it was either December 11th or 12th.
I just wonder if our lockdown here will delay things.
yeah I just wish I had a day. I am the oldest child and cousin so none of my family in this generation has gone through the college process so I am very confused about a lot of stuff.
I think it would be great if the decisions were posted today or tomorrow. However my personal thought is that they will come out this Saturday. I just base this on previous dates (Dec 11/12th) rather than the actual day of the week (Tuesday/Wednesday). And Jesuit schools almost never issue anything on Sunday so if not this weekend then more waiting : (
I just think this as admission officers have a set routine and associated times to review, decide, put together financial packages, etc. I think they are paced by number of days from when applications are submitted rather than a day of the week.
With regard to “mailing” decisions…most schools post on their portals + mail. Note that mail can mean electronic mail or postal mail.
All applicants are in the same boat this year with the health and economic uncertainty around us. Having said that, a lot of articles are postulating that colleges will try to fill as many slots possible with quality ED and/or EA applicants so they better understand their own financial health for the next four years.
Best of luck to all, the finish line is not that far away!!!
D just got this email -
It’s been a little more than one month since you submitted your early application to Santa Clara University! We are still working hard to finish up evaluating more than 8,000 applications, but you should be hearing from us soon.
If you have not already **logged into [your SCU application portal] , make sure to do so this week so that you do not run into any issues when your admission decision is released. We will be sending you important emails regarding your admission status from admission@scu.edu and appstatus@scu.edu, so make sure that they aren’t going to your SPAM. Thank you for your patience and make sure to keep checking your email!
Yea Same! I just got that too.
makes me think it’s coming by the end of this week. What do you guys think after reading this?
Very hopeful.
It’s such odd wording. Check your portal “this week” to make sure it’s working and you’ll be hearing back from us soon. Who knows. I do feel like it might be tomorrow then. Would they really send an email like this four/five days in advance of a decision?
My son got the same email. Fingers crossed for tomorrow then!
8,280 early apps last year, so roughly flat compared to 2019-2020.
(Edited #, what a dork)
flat is interesting. I still think CA schools aren’t going to see a boost in apps because the state is so shut down. What do you think after this email? Tomorrow decisions?
I talked to someone who applied ED last year and she got a we’re almost ready email on the third of December. Therefore, I don’t think decisions are coming out until early next week. Could be tomorrow, but I think it’s more likely to be next week.
When did ED come out last year?
Dec 3rd last year was a Tuesday. If EA was released on the 11th and ED was a week before then ED was likely released either the 4th or the 5th. So I think there’s a chance this EA decision will come tomorrow or Saturday.
No the ED comes out the same as EA, so it was December 11th last year.
Oh lol
Just as a heads up, that link to the SCU portal in your post is an active link and you can click through to your portal (no password but can see your login)
They release both at the same time? That would be awesome if it was tomorrow. My kid applied EA.
yikes, thanks I edited and took that part out!
