Heard back from them late Feb but now I’ll post my stats!
Accepted in-state (San Diego native but not around the immediate area)
Undeclared
CSU GPA: 3.85
ACT: 27
2 AP’s and 2 Honors (from Sophomore to Senior Year)
Now I’m trying to see if I can make the Honors College!
@WinnieH: In-coming Freshman are invited to apply to the Honors college. If you did not receive an invite with your acceptance, then you need to wait until the end of your Freshman year and have a cummulative GPA of 3.2 to apply for Sophomore year.
@WinnieH: There’s actually a final deadline to apply for the Honors College! The priority one already passed (in January) but the final one is March 30th. The March deadline is more based on the space available, but it’s worth a try. And this would be for the upcoming fall term. Here’s the link: http://newscenter.sdsu.edu/dus/uhc/application_information.aspx
Since year 2015 is not available yet, pick 2014 and your major from the drop down. All classes need to graduate will be listed for each semster. Stick to the MAP and you should be fine. If you have AP credit, you could be ahead a few classes already.
I was admitted last month for electrical engineering. But I have one question. In the admission letter, it says this:
“Please keep in mind that you must complete, with grades of C or higher, all course work indicated on your application as in progress or planned, and maintain your reported overall grade point average”
The part I’m concerned with is the last part. What exactly does “maintain your reported overall grade point average” mean? Does this mean I have to keep my CSU GPA the same throughout my senior year (or higher) as the one I reported? I reported a 3.95. I’m hoping this is not the case.
Also, here were my stats for those who interested:
Major: Electrical engineering
In-state
CSU GPA: 3.95
SAT: 580 reading, 570 math, 570 writing
No APs, honors, etc., just regular classes.
I got accepted in February. I’m honestly really surprised since I had horrible stats. Here’s the breakdown:
Out of State
Major:English
ACT:24
GPA:3.1 unweighted ( I don’t know it weighted, I also attend a private school which user a stricter grading scale than normal schools, but I assume this made no difference in my application.
I don’t remember how the Cal state application looked and whether or not you could list activities or awards, if you can, here they are:
EC:Volunteered at 2 hospitals, tutored children at 2 elementary schools, lead bible school at 3 churches, volunteered at a soup kitchen and center for disabled children, dance (jazz, contemporary, and hiphop)
Awards: 400 service hour award for completing over 400 service hours during the 2013-2014 school year, as well as completing the most service hours in my school that year, published 7 times in a student anthology for essays and poetry (6 times for Creative communications, 1 time for Library of Poetry), and silver and honorable mention keys for the regional scholastic art and writing awards.
I’m honestly really surprised I was accepted, considering the fact that my application sucked. I was diagnosed with major clinical depression during high school, which impacted my GPA and ACT tremendously, but there was no spot on the application to mention this, so I don’t know why SDSU accepted me when all the saw was that I blew school.I did take a decent amount of honor and AP courses, maybe that’s why, but who knows.
I’ll probably end up going here, although I really don’t want to since SDSU really is not a fit for me and I have a feeling that I’ll hate it, but I guess I’ll take a chance.
Just in case anyone was wondering, they send admission letters both in emails and snail mail. I first was notified through email, and soon after I got it mailed. Their admission acceptance package was much nicer than other schools I applied too. Most of the others just had a letter saying “your in, good job.” but SDSU sent a folder filled with packets of info about everything about the school, as well as a poster and bumper sticker.

Im really hoping to get off the wait-list. Does anyone know the odds of getting off the wait list this year? I was thinking it to be a little more likely since I’m assuming that they sent out less acceptances this year.
