@my2caligirls my DD also likes business program, especially advertising and marketing. That’s why she likes many CSUs because they offer Business administration major. For UC campuses, she didn’t apply Business major (there are only few) and not so much into Economic major, she applied for Design related major instead. But it was tough when she was selecting majors, she wasn’t too fond of the options in UCs.
@Gumbymom I agree with you regarding “avoid peer pressure” but it is very hard. Especially when you attend the very competitive public high school and she was on honor/AP tract the entire 4 years. Most her friends are on the same track and some only apply top tier schools plus UCs. She doesn’t want people to think less of her but her stats might not be strong enough for UC acceptance. She loves SDSU, SFSU, beautiful city and far enough from home.
Does anyone know if its harder for out of state students to get accepted into webers honors college at SDSU?
Im from washington and am applying.
GPA: UW 3.87/4.0 W 3.9 ACT: 30 SAT:1300
I will also graduate high school with an associates degree in Arts and Sciences which is why my weighted GPA is low because I couldn’t take AP classes. However since its not shown on my W GPA i dont know if the college will recognize it.

FYI, I did speak with admissions about my high stats son (5000+ EI) who is in state and did not get an early acceptance. SDSU admissions had apparently designated him as a dual enrolled student because he took two classes at a community college during high school. They said his application was incomplete because a transcript was not sent directly from the community college. The community college classes are on his high school transcript, but we went ahead and ordered a transcript to be sent to SDSU from the community college after talking to admissions. Kind of odd.
The admissions officer said he should go ahead and complete all scholarship/Honors College applications by the 1/15 deadline, even though he has not been admitted. I don’t know if he can be convinced to do this without an acceptance . . . he is leaning toward going out of state and isn’t super motivated to write a 700 word essay.
Anyway, just wanted to follow up in case anyone else’s kid is similarly situated and might find this information helpful.
@pickledginger: Thank you for the update and nice to know the information regarding dual enrollment. Best of luck to your son.
Sounds to me like there may have been some issues related to the Apply Now App. My D has DE as well and we did not encounter these issues. I recall some of the steps around how to handle DE course entry being confusing and we also got mixed direction from support. Anyways, we entered the CC under colleges attended but entered the classes under high school coursework (for us they will appear on her high school transcript as well). The portal notes that we need to send transcripts by May 1 for both high school and CC (DE) - grades self-reported for admissions.
With your son’s stats it is worthwhile to complete the WHC app as his admission should be a formality.
Does anyone know when the next wave of accepted out of state applicants will be released?
@Mikeymike99: The next wave of decisions should be Mid to late February for both in-state and OOS applicants.
Accepted a few weeks ago.
CSU GPA:4.5
SAT:1260
Major: Business Administration
In-state but not local area.
Also received offer to apply to Honors college.
@prospectivefinanceundergrad: Since the Cal States cap their GPA with 8 semesters of Honors credit, your CSU GPA cannot be any higher than a 4.4. The only reason I point this out is that I have been collecting eligibility index data for SDSU by majors, so having the most accurate posted stats will help with the a more accurate EI. Congratulations and best of luck.
I have a question has san diego state sent you guys a “Parent’s and Student’s Verification Form”?
S accepted, Instate Pre-Engineering
uw 3.88
uc capped 4.19
35 ACT
I got accepted around Christmas time.
In state
SAT: 1470/1600
Weighted GPA: 4.23
Major: Data Science
@LFCfan21: SDSU does not have a Data Science undergrad major? Are you an Applied Mathematics major with an emphasis in Science or Computational Science?
I was just wondering if anyone knew if being a military dependent helped your chances of getting into sdsu. My stats are lower than the average, but I’m on the GI bill as a military dependent. Does sdsu consider this for admissions? I have a 3.6 unweighted gpa and an 1150 on my SAT. However, I go to a high school thats ranked in the top 20 public schools in california. What are my chances?
Sorry for responding late. I got admitted for Statistics pre-major.
