SDSU Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

My daughter was accepted by e-mail. 1/8/21 (Turned in app on the last day)
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Out of State (WA)
HS GPA 3.9 UW/4.2 W
Running Start GPA 3.97 & on track to graduate in June with an A.A

Very pleasantly surprised regarding her acceptance. We were told by many that Running Start is only good for acceptance into Washington state schools.

Is it normal to get acceptance to SDSU so early? I thought the Cal States didn’t notify until Feb or March. He submitted in early October for Aero. We live in Northern California.

Being out of state and not knowing what to expect, we were surprised to hear back so soon. However I learned from reading another thread that early acceptances are for High stat/Honors college invitees and OOS High stat applicants and that the majority of the decisions will be in late February through March.
Good luck to your son.

@TLZT : SDSU always admits some applicants early which are usually High stat/Honors college invitees and OOS applicants that meet a certain threshold. They like to lock in these applicants early if possible. Most applicants will hear in February/March for the majority of CSU’s. Other CSU’s will do early admits especially local applicants. I have already seen admits from CSULA, Sonoma state, Sac state to name a few.

@Gumbymom Thank you!!

Can you please tell me the numbers for Real Estate major & the GPA? Also, where can we find those numbers?

Did everyone receive the personalized video, congratulating the prospective student on their acceptance to SDSU? It was a very nice touch.

Did you get that today ?

The video was included in an email that advised us of admission. Sounds like there are different emails or letters depending on the major or maybe SDSU is testing different versions. Not sure.

My daughter was admitted in December OOS for sustainability. Does anyone know much about this program there? Also I was not aware of an extra out of state fee although I do know that cal poly had one on their website. Can someone confirm?

@labradoodlemom: SLO has an additional opportunity fee for OOS students beyond the additional OOS tuition costs. SDSU charges the additional $11880 OOS tuition on top of the in-state $7720 but not the opportunity fee.

OOS tuition, room, board, fees, book and some misc. will be about $43K. SDSU typically provides a financial estimate on the portal along with the admissions decision.

Thank you! That few for SLO kind of surprised me- I mean what is an opportunity fee? Don’t all kids get opportunity? Not just out if state?

@labradoodlemom: This link explains the Opportunity fee.

I want to apply with BIOLOGY major especially molecular and cellular Bio, I can’t find anything on assist.org. I want to know if physics is a requirement before I apply or a recommendation because some schools don’t require it. Please help thanks!
