1530 SAT/770 Math II/(got cancelled five times on physics subject test)

A few other decently strong ECs: club polo (captain), internship at local firm, lions heart (president), construction apprenticeship(through my dad’s small construction business so I’m not sure if it counted for much, did learn a lot though) and a few more less impressive ones.
OOS and CA? When did you get the acceptance?
Oops that was a typo I am in state from California my bad on that one. I got the acceptance mid December.
In state
From LA
CSu GPA: 3.95
Taken one AP and one Honors every year in High School.
Club Leader, I made my own business, played sports sophomore and freshman year
What are my chances?
@Dagrom11: What is your intended major? HS course rigor (which AP’s and Honors courses)?
Marketing,
APUSH, Ap World, Ap art history
Honors spanish ii, honors English 111, honors English IV
Meant to say that I didn’t take an AP or honors freshman year
@Dagrom11: Marketing had a 36% acceptance rate last year (2347 applicants for 850 admits). Your GPA is around the average for admitted students but unfortunately SDSU does not breakout GPA by major. I would say you are a competitive applicant but it will come down to how you compare to all the Marketing applicants.
Best of luck.
thank you!
I noticed you also applied to CU and were accepted. My son applied to CU and SDSU as well - for Civil Engineering. He was accepted to SDSU, but is still waiting to hear from CU. For you, SDSU would be a great value. My son also applied to ASU. He was accepted but he likes San Diego more than Tempe. We like that SDSU is investing in their engineering programs.
Same here! Civil engineering.
Accepted SDSU, UC Boulder, Loyola Marymount, OSU, ASU and Arizona State. He’s least interested in the Arizona schools. Waiting to hear from many others. Would love to hear any of your impressions or thoughts on the others, if you have them! And any other schools you’ve applied to for CE.
I live in San Diego and work here as an Engineer. We have so many SDSU graduates working here, and they are very smart and work really hard. I am generally impressed with kids graduated from SDSU.
Where can you see acceptance rates by major? Do all UC show acceptance rates by major? I’m looking for UCSB
@ehk123: UCSB does not publish acceptance rate by majors for Freshman admits. SDSU’s acceptance rate by majors are here:
https://asir.sdsu.edu/admission-data/
I have not found that any UC’s list their acceptance rates by major for Freshman admits plus not all Colleges within the UC’s admit by major ie. College of Letters and Sciences.
The UC’s do publish admit rates and GPA ranges for Transfer students.
Hi @Gumbymom!
I was wondering what my chances are!
Here are my stats:
CSU GPA: 3.85
In-state, not local
AP Classes: AP European History, AP English and Literature, AP Language and Composition, and AP Calculus AB
Honors: English 9H, English 10H, Precalculus H
Extracurriculars: Volunteered for my local hospital as well as a local physical therapy office, coached a youth boy’s basketball team, played freshman and JV basketball, team captain for my club basketball team.
I applied as a Biology major.
@paolop123: you have good EC’s but not a consideration for SDSU admissions.
Your CSU GPA is within range but below average for the campus but good HS course rigor. Biology is one of most popular and competitive majors at SDSU. It is a target school but not a solid guarantee.
The number of applicants for Biology 2020 was 7317, 2210 admitted with a 30% acceptance rate but a highly competitive applicant pool.
Best of Luck.
My D has similar GPA with 10 AP classes. She is applying to the real estate major.
What do you think about her chances? We are local.
Thanks
@Luckgal23: As a local applicant with very good HS course rigor and a smaller applicant pool for the real estate major, I would say a solid Match school.
The number of applicants for Real Estate 2020 was 429, 116 admitted with a 27% acceptance rate.
Best of luck.
My daughter has a 3.8 in state, psychology. If you had to guess do u think she has a chance?
Yes, she has a chance. As always with any CSU that admits by major, it really depends upon how she compares to all the other Psych applicants.
Psych another popular major with
4196 applicants last year and 1584 admits.
hi, can you chance my son for SDSU please? he’s got a 4.1, took 20 AP/honors courses. has lots of EC, leadership stuff, job, volunteering, etc., but i know the CSUs don’t see this. his major is CS. Thanks!
