Hey there guys,

I just joined quite recently to this board
and I really do appreciate the wealth of info you guys offer..

So I am a first year SDSU student (in terms of credits) as my
first semester was a bit of transitioning period and the second semester I had to take some basic english/math courses which put be back a bit on credits..

anyways, I have done some thinking and I would love to transfer to a UC.. obviously the best route is through a community college (Mesa college is where my grandparents are)

I'm not in the best academic standing at SDSU but I am improving, is it still possible to go to a community college even If I've done two semesters and am still considered a first year student?

Thanks.

yes go to community college and transfer to a UC, you can sign guaranteed transfer agreements for most UCs (except LA, Berk)

And EWWW i would not go to mesa, i f-ing hated their parking problem.

Go to grossmont.

I commuted to grossmont and cuyamaca from DEL MAR!!!!!! because it was that much better.

Mesa/CIty/Miramar, are all in the same district and have a lot of online courses that they offer , i have taken a lot of them .

I have taken courses at Grossmont, Cuya, Mesa, Miramar, City, and MiraCosta- i transferred to UCLA from grossmont.

Whats your major? let me know if you need teacher / course recommendations

Parking at mesa is no problem.

Hey, I'm going to Mesa too. I'd have gone somewhere closer to my place but Mesa offers Architecture prereqs that most ccs don't offer.

Ok unless Mesa changed SIGNIFICANTLY from when i went there, no way is it better.

Could you guys futher reiterate what makes Grossmont and Mesa stand out individually?

I am definitely looking at the most beneficial way to help me transfer to a UC..

Mesa, good thing is my Grandparents live in Tierrasanta and so I believe it would be closest for me to transfer (I don't drive!!)

I came to SDSU as a Vocal Major, I tried out for their classical music program.. I feel I should have stuck with it now because the summer before fall semester I switched to Sociology (Why?!!) and I didn't do well the first semester.. Communications department prevented switching and dropping for a class that I couldn't attend for month and half, due to living in the dorms late.. 2nd semester I did better except I didn't pass my Philosophy class. The problem with the second semester was also I had two classes that (GMS 90 and RWS 91) that I was SUPPOSED to take (REQUIRED to) from SDSU for the FIRST semester but they lost my scores.. so I ended up taking some other courses..

do you guys know if transfers are allowed for international students through the UCs?

ah i live in tierrasanta too, yea mesa is very close. its like this, mesa has TAP program(for transferring to UCLA), grossmont does not. mesa is bigger and more popular, with more classes and more diverse course offerings. basically mesa is the go-to community college if you live in sd.
