Hello everyone!
So I am a freshman in college and San Diego State University is my dream school. I applied my senior year of high school and got in! Unfortunately, I had to turn it down due to being an out of state student and not being able to afford it at that time. I am from Texas and planning to transfer after my junior year here. My question is, is it completely impossible to now get admitted as a transfer student since I am out of state?
Sure you can - but, SDSU has become very competitive for out of area transfers. The CSU system’s charter requires them to save a significant number of seats for students applying from CCs designated as ‘local’. Local applicants are held to a much lower standard and, honestly, fill up most of the seats. Their reduced admission threshold skews the reported ‘avg’ transfer GPA. Read about their local transfer program here: http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/admissions/pdf/TAG_2015.pdf
Honestly, it will be easier to get into most UCs…
Then there’s the OOS tuition.
Good luck.
