SDSU Using Same Essays for Scholarships?

I am currently going through and submitting apps for the numerous SDSU scholarships. Is it wrong to be using the same essay for all of the apps that include the same prompt? The prompt is:

"Submit an essay (approximately 500 words) that will enable those making scholarship decisions to learn more about you. Write about what motivated you to choose your major or program, your future career goals, and any other information that will help reviewers make a well-informed decision. This is your first, and sometimes only, chance to tell them why they should award a scholarship to you, as opposed to another applicant."

Will they be looking at the other essays you submitted, and will they disapprove of simply using the same essay? So far I have gone through three scholarship apps, and all of them have been the exact same with the same prompt. I don't even think I could write a different essay because the information will be the exact same.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with submitting the same essays for identical prompts. My son was invited to apply for a departmental scholarship and that prompt was also the same one as above. The applications will probably be read by different people/departments.

I did have a question about the scholarships though. The email he received from a departmental professor indicated the scholarships were merit based. However, on the main SDSU scholarship page they mentioned something about requiring financial need. At a COA in the low 20k’s we would be full pay, so not sure if he qualifies even though he meets all merit requirements (gpa, etc.)
