Can I use my common app essay for the scholarship essays since it fits the question? Does anyone know if it's different people looking at the regular college apps and the scholarship applications? I assume it is...but I don't want to have the same person have to read the same essay twice..

I dunno, but I think someone had a thread like this and a person quoted a WU statement saying that's fine.

There is a reason why they ask for "additional" essays. The people that make the merit ais decisions also have access to your admissions application. Think, how much effort does it show if you can not take the time to write an additional essay. Just make your decision based on the above reasoning.

I used the one I used for my application haha! oh well....

I don't know really, but I got the impression that different people were evaluating scholarships...like the department of whatever subject you're applying for, not admissions.

cinnamon9724 - you are absolutely right about different people evaluating admissions and scholarships. My point was that the scholarship people have access to your admissions app - thus they also see your admissions essay. Does not show a lot of initiative if you do not make a real effort with the scholarship app by not sending an additional essay. Remember, the competition for the merit awards is quite intense - so you have to "stand out" to receive one.

Yes, I wouldn't use the same essay from my application at all. They have access to it and will surely realize that you didn't go the extra mile like most other people. With scholarships that competitive, you definitely don't want to be rooted out so early.

alright thanks everyone :)
